Before joining Clarity, Sarah was Instructional Designer at Portland State University, helping faculty and instructors to incorporate technology into their practice and building online courses for blended or fully online delivery. Recently, she worked with K-12 science teachers from the Portland Metro STEM project to assist with developing a curriculum for classroom teachers. Prior to her work at PSU, Sarah had worked as Information Architect and User Interface Designer at Ziba Design, developing IA taxonomies, designing UI wireframes, writing detailed functional specifications, and managing content inventories.

Sarah’s interaction design training stems from her Master's in Interactive Telecommunications at New York University. She's active in CHIFOO, the Portland Drupal Users Group, Society for Cinema and Media Studies and pending appointment as a peer-reviewer for Quality Matters. Sarah has also received City University of New York’s Research Award for “Media Metaphors: Telecommunications in American Culture,” the Dean’s Dissertation Award from New York University’s Graduate School of Arts and Sciences and the Reed College William Lankford III Memorial Humanities Award for Undergraduate Interdisciplinary Study.
