Bridges Breakout: Number Rack book
Giving educators an easy way to quickly engage in one of the most powerful visual models for teaching mathematics.
Challenge
The Math Learning Center needed a supplemental resource built around their Number Rack manipulative—a dynamic learning tool that empowers students to explore counting and arithmetic operations in MLC’s Bridges in Mathematics curriculum. MLC planned a stand-alone lesson book that would integrate this powerful conceptual model into any K-5 classroom. Yet when the COVID-19 pandemic struck, MLC’s priorities shifted to remote learning projects and support, and their capacity to compile, design, and produce the book was severely impacted.
Solution
Clarity collaborated with MLC to organize the source material into a strategic scope and sequence for the book, and to identify gaps requiring additional content writing. Clarity drove the development process and provided the design for the book based on MLC’s brand identity. When MLC’s production staff needed to shift focus onto other critical projects, Clarity stepped in to lay out and produce the materials—providing print-ready files for the 250-page lesson book, as well as the accompanying task cards for student use. Clarity also designed and launched the associated marketing web pages, which included online-only teacher support materials.
