Student-centered, immersive learning experience about digital life
Producing a media-rich, self-guided learning experience to build middle school students’ digital intelligence through engaging, story-driven interactions.

Challenge
As part of a pilot project to teach Digital Intelligence Competencies to middle school students, Digital Promise needed a partner to design, develop, and publish a self-guided learning experience that would be engaging, feel authentic to students, prioritize media-rich formats (instead of text-only instruction), and require minimal educator involvement, in a very compressed timetable for delivery. No small feat! Clarity was selected for its expertise, capacity, and experience at creating exactly what they needed.
Solution
We quickly got to work designing and developing a learning experience that checked all the boxes. Drawing on our expertise in instructional design, digital media production, and learner engagement, we created an escape-room style narrative that immersed middle school students in problem-solving and decision-making tasks. Using audio, video, and interactive puzzles, the result featured interactive challenges, assessments, and reflections focused on active, balanced, and healthy use of technology. It guided students through scenarios promoting effective media use, self-regulation of screen time, and awareness of technology’s impact on mental and physical well-being. We provided the necessary capacity and expertise to compress the development effort to ensure a high quality delivery in time for piloting within just a few weeks.
