Creativity Workshop Series Development

A self-guided professional development workshop highlights best practices from research on creativity in education.

Challenge

While Adobe has tremendous success with its products, it has always wanted to see greater use by educators beyond those responsible for teaching art, design, or multimedia. While they have had success with an online community full of resources and discussions, they hadn't expanded their professional development much beyond their comprehensive collection of technical training materials about their products. The company recognized our blended expertise could enable them to achieve their strategic objective of increasing the awareness and use of their software to support teaching and learning with digital media across the K-12 curriculum.

Solution

From an initial brainstorm design session with the client, we validated education audience priorities, refined course concepts and pedagogical approaches, and delivered a roadmap of the online professional development courses to be developed. We then provided the instructional design and content expertise to create a series of self-guided online courses about creativity in the classroom, as well as generated the resource files, facilitation guides, and related materials to serve as a template for each additional course.

Outcome

These workshops received such positive results and high marks from educators that Adobe next commissioned Clarity Innovations to develop a facilitated blended-learning course version of the series.
