Association website modernization

A dynamic, highly trafficked website designed, engineered, upgraded, and managed by Clarity since 2008.

Challenge

Having built several iterations of their website over time, Clarity was asked to address a growing set of limitations on their aging Drupal 7 platform, which had reached its official end of life: an active job board that no longer served members well, content managers resorting to HTML snippets to achieve the page layouts they needed, and an events process disconnected from their association management portal. The upcoming platform migration also presented an opportunity to clean up years of accumulated legacy content.

Solution

We built a new site in Drupal 11 and took full advantage of the Layout Builder tool to give editors much more flexibility. Our designer turned their existing style guides into a full component-based design system, with predefined elements like pull quotes, headshots, and event styles, so editors can place and arrange components directly in the page layout as needed.

During the migration, we resolved several of their frustrations with the COSA job board: any job editor in an organization can now see legacy posts, re-post them with edits, and provide more structured information for job seekers. Events are now created directly in the association management system and pushed into the public site, giving COSA a single, current platform that no longer requires editors to work around its limitations.
