Integrated three distinct websites into a single, coherent one, framed around the needs of educators and students.

 ## Challenge

CFR asked Clarity to help unify a fragmented educational portfolio: a static site describing their mission and offerings, "Model Diplomacy," a site for facilitating government simulations in classrooms, and "World101," an information-rich site with student-facing articles on foreign policy topics and educator-facing resources (mostly PDFs and Google Docs) like lesson plans and syllabi. The three sites were visually inconsistent, used distinct information architectures, and shared no common taxonomies, fields, or assets.

World101 read more like Wikipedia or the CIA World Facebook than a teaching resource; the articles were interesting, but the site wasn't structured around teaching foreign policy concepts. Model Diplomacy required teacher logins, but the benefits of logging in were minimal (light personalization of static assets), and the interface was confusing.

## Solution

We integrated all three sites into a single unified presence structured around two primary user roles: teaching and learning. Existing articles, timelines, and videos became learning resources; lesson plans, activities, syllabi, and simulations became teaching resources. We then introduced topics as a primary navigation layer, so users chose "teaching" or "learning" first, then a topic, pulling content out of deep silos and into shared areas where it was easier to discover.

By exploring "Learning Journeys," a way for content editors to organize resources into larger narrative arcs, we helped CFR move beyond three disconnected sites and toward a single platform where educators can quickly assemble what they need to build a teaching unit, then assign that content to students.
