Fortune 100 Technology Company
We provide ongoing services for a Fortune 100 company’s worldwide education initiative. supplying the valuable "real world" educational expertise so the initiative can achieve it's national and international goal of integrating technology in the classroom and curriculum.
Some projects to which we contribute:
An environment for education professionals to share training methodologies
This online service allows trainers to share key learnings and practices as well as integrate technology into their trainings. Our team provides the instructional design, content development and editing, along with research into emerging technology integration and QA support.
Scope. Our team has worked as an embedded part of the client's staff to develop content for the site as well as planning the editorial and content calendar for the coming months. We’ve also provided quality assurance support and engineering technical expertise to integrate Web 2.0 tools into the site.
Results. We developed the information architecture and seeded the majority of the content on the site. We’ve helped the client go from having no online community presence to a site that tens of thousands of educators visit every month for strategies on curriculum implementation.
Exemplary unit plans that integrate technology into classroom projects
This collection of unit plans is part of a program which emphasizes curriculum development that aligns to standards and promotes higher-order thinking using curriculum-framing questions, authentic project tasks, effective instructional strategies, and performance assessment. The program provides a foundation for good planning and supports teachers in adapting these project-based units or developing their own from scratch.
Scope. We developed the information architecture and all implementation and supporting materials. The original source material of lesson plans required a complete overhaul and rewrite. We incorporated better instructional examples and uses for technology. Our engineering team also converted the entire collection (200+ units) from a static HTML publishing system, to the client’s CMS.
Results. The program has become a cornerstone resource that continues to be referenced and incorporated into newer aspects of the initiative. The large collection of instructional examples prompted further development of project-based learning resources and tools.
A library of teacher professional development resources on project-based learning
Recognizing a need for more immersive training for teachers about what project-based learning looks like in a classroom, the client commissioned our services. The goal was to create a series of intensive self-paced online studies to complement other programs and resources on the client's Web site.
Scope. Our content team prepared the instructional framework, developed the curriculum, and prepared the storyboards. We supervised the development of the user-interface and instructional design of the Flash-based interactive self-paced learning course, developed by our extended network partner.
Results. The project is scheduled to go into public production in 2009.
