Global distance learning initiative making progress

Tom Layton, online learning strategist for Clarity Innovations, just returned from a series of meetings in Irkutsk, Russia. Working with teachers and administrators at the local university, Tom presented several concepts about the future of online learning in a global society.

In one meeting, intended for just a handful of educators expected to be "seriously interested" in getting started immediately with creating their first online course, Tom found himself working with sixty teachers crammed standing-room-only in the room. "Clearly, there's interest, motivation, and determination here," Tom exclaimed in surprise by the response of how many turned out.

Over the next several months, Tom will be working with these teachers to develop their first course: AP Russian. Meanwhile, Clarity Innovations is developing a means to enable rural school principals seeking educators to connect with distance learning educators offering their expertise.
