The 5 C's of Content

Tysa Fennern, Technical Producer for Clarity Innovations, will be co-presenting later this month at the spring meeting of the Oregon Professional Development Cadre (PDCadre) about the five C's of content: collecting, consuming, currating, creating, and contributing. In its eighth year, the PDCadre identifies and disseminates best practices of innovative technology integration in teaching and learning. It is a network of instructional technology specialists, staff developers and tech-savvy educators from around the state that meet twice a year. Presenting with Tysa is Corin Richards, Instructional Technology Coach at Dallas School District, Trainer at the Oregon Virtual School District, and Instructional Technologist at Willamette ESD.

At the February meeting of MobilePortland, Steve Burt, Manager of Content & Research, will be on a panel about the role of iBooks 2.0 in reinventing textbooks. It's been 18 months since we moderated a panel on this topic and much has changed since then with the surge in iPad devices in schools, and Apple's new strategy to tackle textbook distribution head on.  Join us Monday, February 27, 6:00pm for this exciting discussion with the MobilePortland community. SxSW Education & Interactive

The nexus of technology and education shares much in common with another crossroad: technology and creativity. Intersections like these are what South by Southwest (SXSW) is all about.

So it was only appropriate that they are growing the education portion of the event with a special preconference: SXSWedu. The event mixes education professionals with those from leaders in business and policy who all share a keen interest in modernizing teaching and learning.

Continuing tradition, we're sending Thor Prichard, our intrepid reporter/representive/guinea pig, to collect research, identify trends, and gain more perspective on what's ahead. So if you're attending, or just interested in learning what comes from it, stay tuned to the Foundry Blog for reports from the field.

Oregon Leadership Summit

Thor Prichard, President and CEO of Clarity Innovations, will be attending the 9th annual Oregon Leadership Summit, a gathering of business owners, civic leaders and elected officials from across the state to discuss regional economic development opportunities, review progress on Oregon's Business Plan initiatives over the past year, and explore ways of supporting economic and job growth in key industries.

Clarity Innovations Attending Adobe MAX

With more of our work being designed and developed for online learning environments, along with the convergence of the workflows to communicate in print and digital mediums, we're finding ourselves increasingly reliant upon Adobe's toolset. So it's probably no surprise then, that our Content & Research Manager, Steven Burt, will be attending the AdobeMAX conference in Los Angeles in October. If you plan to attend, and would would like to meet while there, please contact us.
