Elizabeth Northup
With a love for learning and teaching, Biz Northup has had the opportunity to teach a broad spectrum of learners. Her 23 years of teaching experience spans from Kindergarten through Adults. At the elementary level, she taught all content areas for K – 3 grades and at the adult level, the focus was on professional development for curriculum mapping, facilitating learning and instructional delivery, and technology integration.
Throughout her career, her primary focus has been early childhood education, with an emphasis on curriculum and instructional delivery. Biz received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Kansas and her Masters in Educational Administration from Northern Arizona University. Early on in her career, she recognized the value of technology and the positive impacts it made on student achievement.
As Technology Mentor, she had the opportunity to write curriculum and train teachers, administrators and support staff on the effective uses of technology as a tool to enhance their daily work. Also during this time, she coordinated the Intel ACE, Intel Teach to the Future and an Innovation Challenge Grant for her district. She has had experience presenting at NSBA T+L and NECC conferences and as well as presenting Intel Leadership Forums to school administrators across the nation.
During Biz’s last five years in the Kyrene School District, she led a team of teachers and students to exemplary status while serving as principal of a K-5 elementary school. Technology was at the forefront of her school’s goals. Technology was viewed as a “tool” that would enhance learning and help lead her students successfully into the future. Her love of learning and integrating technology was evident in the technology rich environment she helped create.
Her most recent work in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metro-Plex has been in the area of supervising and coaching student teachers on effective classroom management/ instruction, lesson design/delivery, and assessment and curriculum alignment to the state and national standards.
Biz maintains her Arizona and Texas teacher and administrative credentials.
