Content Developer
We are seeking content developers with hybrid expertise in education and technology to augment our team, as the number of projects underway continues to grow. If you are comfortable developing content about instructional strategies using mobile devices one week, while the next creating PDFs and ePUBs about project based learning, then Clarity is the place for you. Please read on for more details about what we are seeking from our next Content Developer.
Area of Emphasis
We are seeking candidates with a background in one or more of the following:
- science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education.
- 1:1 or mobile learning initiatives.
- online instructional design, user experience, or user interface design.
- interaction design and development for assessment.
Duties
In general, Content Developers conduct research; perform analysis; write and edit curriculum materials for publication in multiple media; design classroom applications for interactive elearning tools; and develop, review, revise and recommend policy and strategies for effective use of technology in education.
Specifically, we expect you to contribute to Clarity's success through excellent client service and meeting or exceeding performance objectives for the following major job duties:
- Developing curriculum and content to extend and update an existing portfolio of educational materials and resources.
- Developing new curriculum and online content to support a long-term global strategy.
- Reviewing and revising deliverables and other content related materials to improve the effectiveness and fit within an educational context.
- Creating and updating digital documentation in a variety of publishing formats (print, online, PDF, ePUB, etc.).
Interactions
Content Developers:
- Participate in weekly status meetings with their Team Lead;
- Prepare progress reports on assigned projects and tasks;
- Are held accountable to the Team Lead for achieving agreed outcomes;
- Provide support and feedback to their peers as requested; and,
- Solicit guidance and/or support from their Team Lead as needed.
Qualifications
Content Developers are expected to demonstrate:
- Proven writing and editing skills for multiple purposes (e.g., web-oriented, technical, training and creative);
- Effective verbal and written communication skills at all levels within an organization; and,
- Good judgment in applying a certain degree of creativity and latitude.
Content Developers are expected to be highly skilled at:
- Expressing complex material clearly, with a track record of creating high-quality written material on schedule;
- Managing multiple assignments simultaneously;
- Using popular software applications for word processing, spreadsheets, presentation materials, document publishing, document sharing, Web browsing, managing calendars, and email correspondence;
- Adjusting their workload to meet changing priorities and deadlines; and,
- Collaborating with a geographically diverse team of writers and editors.
Content Developers are expected to possess working knowledge of:
- The practice and process of K-12 education with a background in the Areas of Emphasis;
- 21st Century Learning methods and instructional strategies, (i.e., inquiry-based learning, classroom management methods, and curriculum design);
- Applying new ideas and technologies to improve professional practice and student achievement;
- Best practices for providing organizational and team support; and,
- Digital publishing tools and formats.
Experience
A Content Developer is expected to have a minimum of six years work experience demonstrating the requirements to perform the duties have been met or exceeded with increasing responsibility. Preference is given to candidates with recent experience in the desired Areas of Emphasis.
Education
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university with emphasis in education or a closely related field is required. In addition, prior graduate-level courses towards, or successful completion of, an advanced degree (master’s or doctorate) in school administration, education policy, instructional strategies, educational technology, or a closely related field is expected though not required.

Must have ability and willingness to travel on an occasional basis for multiple days domestically and possibly internationally.
